Reading Passage

Read the passage below, then answer the questions that follow.

An Extract from The Great Fire of London

It happened one night in September 1666. A small fire started in a bakery on Pudding Lane in London. At first the fire was tiny, but the wind was blowing very hard that night, and the flames began to spread quickly from house to house.

Most of the houses in London were made of wood, so they burned easily. People rushed out of their homes carrying whatever they could and hurried towards the River Thames to escape the smoke and flames. The fire burned for four whole days. In the end, thousands of houses were destroyed, but almost everybody escaped safely. After the fire, London was rebuilt with houses made of brick and stone instead of wood.
